and now… Twenty-thirteen

2013 - this one

Twenty-twelve… the year an April Fool’s Day joke played by the Mayan’s took place on December 21st. I know now it is true what they say how times goes by fast as you get older.  In this ever-changing world we live in, it is hard to keep up.

I will not go into some long-winded story about twenty-twelve, only to say I have experienced every sensation possible on this rollercoaster ride of living.  I have been to the glorious summit of happiness to the depths of sheer despair with lots of twists and turns along the way.  Who hasn’t?   That is life.

I’ve made mistakes.  I’m not going to dwell on them, they’re over now.  I trust I have learned what they were suppose to teach me.  I will make more… I am going to keep trying to get it right.  There were some chances I took and should not have.   There were others I did not take… I should have.

These are some of my loftier goals for the New Year:

Make it count…  Take more chances.  Learn new lessons.  Read more books.  Enjoy simple pleasures.  Always be present.  Love more.  Appreciate where I have been, and strive to go further.

Defeat is not the worst failure.  Not to have tried is the true failure.  Twenty-twelve taught me many crucial lessons.  However, the most important is also the most simple.  Life is short.  You can’t wait to do what you want to do until tomorrow…  This is it.  Time WILL run out.

My newest favorite quote for the new year… “Do you know what happened to the man that got everything he ever wanted?”     “He lived happily ever after.”      ~ Willy Wonka

I want to wish everyone everything they have ever wanted… have a Happy New Year.

Twenty-thirteen… bring it on!

Later… Barbara
